Joint meeting with WAM

"PHP for System-i" with Mike Pavlak

Getting Started with PHP on IBM System-i - PHP has become a significant
component of the IBM i development portfolio. This session introduces the
steps to get going with PHP in the typical IBM i environment.  Topics
include software installation, configuration, troubleshooting and basic PHP
script creation as well as a sneak preview of the next generation PHP stack
for IBM I called Zend Server for IBM i.  Come see how to enable your DB2
content quickly and easily using the world's most popular web scripting
language.

PHP 101 Development - Come see what PHP code looks like on IBM i.  This
session builds upon the concepts explored in the 'Getting Started' session.
Topics include everything from Hello World on through a database listing and
i5 Program call.  This is a must see session for anyone looking to explore
options beyond just RPG or Net.Data.

Function Junction - Come to see how functions work, are created and used in
this session.  The presentation is loaded with examples from the PHP library
of over 5,000 functions as well as an in depth study of how to create user
defined functions.  Many comparisons to RPG sub-procedure model are made
during this presentation.  A discussion of variable scope and the conversion
of an inline PHP script to a functional script are discussed.

PHP Arrays for the RPG Programmer - Until recently RPG has neglected the
sophistication of elegant array processing while PHP has supported the use
of arrays since its inception. Come to this session to see why array
processing is so important and how many of the over 70 array function relate
to RPG operation codes and built-in functions. You will see how arrays are
used to pass parameters between functions and programs as well as how arrays
can be used to supplant nearly all of the purposes data structures serve in
RPG.

PHP Web Services on IBM System-i - This session will be a basic level
discussion of how to easily enable legacy applications through web services.
Learn how to create a PHP wrapper or simple SOAP example. You will be ready
to start writing your own web services applications upon the conclusion of
this webinar.

Mike Pavlak has been working with IBM midrange solutions since 1992 and IBM
