DVCUG 2004 Roundtables

Roundtable series:  "How to Become a much more Valuable Corporate Programmer"

Host:  Paul H. Harkins.  Paul has over 40 years experience with IBM systems, including 21 years with IBM. Paul is President and Chief Technology Officer of Harkins Audit Software, Inc., and is still an active corporate programmer.  Read Paul's full bio here.

Purpose:  To provide every attendee with meaningful information that he or she can utilize the very next day at his or her company to become a more valuable and competitive corporate programmer, and to help the attendee encourage other programmers to become more valuable and competitive.

Audience:  All corporate programmers, programming managers, and interested IT top management (not necessarily just iSeries programmers)

Time length:  One-half hour sessions from 6:00 PM to 6:30PM on DVCUG monthly meeting nights.

Format:  I plan to host the meeting and provide a presentation on the roundtable topic, with interaction from attendees. I plan to provide handouts of the presentation (copyright © 2004 Paul H. Harkins).

March 2004 - How to use Programmer Dos and Don’ts to your immediate advantage at your Company.

Subtitle - How you can propel or destroy your Career with a seemingly trivial action.

April 2004 - How to use the Quantum changes in Technology to enhance, and extend your career.

Subtitle - Can I make it XX more years in my (now) 50-year corporate career working as I am now?

August 2004 - How to create your own programming Standards Manual, and get your IT department to contribute to it, and then to use it.

Subtitle - Almost everything has some (needed) standards, except perhaps your IT department (SEI level 1) programmers.

September 2004 - How you and your programming peers at your Company can save and secure your jobs.

Subtitle - Your programming job security is directly linked to the success and productivity of your programming peers at your company.
